Applications for laser alignment

Marine applications

Easy-Laser has alignment systems for different types of marine propulsion systems, such as propeller shafts, pods and water jets. In addition to this we can offer solutions for a variety of other applications, such as straightness and flatness.

Energy production

Older, conventional methods of measuring turbines are very time-consuming. With a laser measurement system, work can be performed much faster and with the greatest precision. The possibility of measurement results being easily and clearly documented is also a great advantage.

Wind power

Easy-Laser has for many years been one of the leading suppliers of measurement and alignment systems for the wind power industry, both for shaft/coupling alignment and flatness measurement of tower flanges.

Oil and gas

Pumps, compressors, expanders, generators – these can be found within the oil and gas industry in their thousands. Rotating machinery that gets the world's wheels turning. Even in a world that is moving towards using more renewable alternatives and more stringent environmental requirements. Correct alignment then becomes even more important.

Diesel engines and gearboxes

The Easy-Laser® Linebore system checks the straightness of e.g. the crankshaft and camshaft bearing centre lines, with a resolution of 0.001 mm and a maximum measurement distance of 40 metres. Both bearing halves and complete bearings can be measured, and the bearing journals can have different diameters.

Pulp and paper

Unplanned downtime in the pulp and paper industry is very costly, therefore properly aligned machines are of the utmost importance. With Easy-Laser, you can check and adjust roll parallelism, align the rotating machines and measure flatness.

Process industry

The amount of applications and machine types within the process industry is enormous. The most common, however, is the alignment of rotating machines such as pumps, motors, compressors, blowers, separators, centrifuges, agitators, etc. Easy-Laser offers solutions for all levels of need and application types.

Plastics industry

Injection molding, extrusion, film blowing, blow molding – the plastics industry uses many different machines with specific alignment needs. Easy-Laser has solutions for them all. Correct alignment prevents quality defects and increases productivity.

Automotive industry

The machines that are used in the automotive industry have the same requirements for correct set-up and alignment as other industries in order to guarantee reliability and productivity. This is ensured by Easy-Laser's measurement and alignment system.

Manufacturing industry

The manufacturing industry contains machines that make the most wonderful things! In order for this to happen at the right level of quality and at speed, correctly aligned and set-up machinery is required. Easy-Laser can make this happen. Our measurement systems are also used to check the manufactured items, so that tolerances are maintained, and so that parts can be assembled correctly.

Sawmills

A sawmill is a very demanding environment, where the machines are hard worn. Regular checks and adjustment of the machine's angles and straightness increases the quality of the sawn timber, and allows the yield and production speed to be maintained at the highest level, hour after hour. With a laser measurement system, work can be performed quickly and with the greatest precision.

Explosive environments

In potentially explosive environments, specially designed and approved measurement systems must be used to eliminate the risk of catastrophic accidents. Alternatively, ”hot permits” must be issued, a sometimes complicated procedure that can be avoided with our Ex/ATEX approved measurement system.

Shaft alignment

Incorrectly aligned shafts and the consequences of this are behind more than 50% of all malfunctions in rotating machines. This increases unscheduled downtime and therefore production losses. This, of course, increases overall maintenance costs.

Belt alignment

A common misunderstanding is that sheave/pulleys are not significantly affected by misalignments. This assumption means that the industry has unnecessarily high electricity bills. Several studies have shown that proper alignment can lead to savings of up to 10% in energy costs alone!

Straightness

Straightness is measured daily in many industries. For example, members, rollers, pipes, machine ends, machine runners and conveyors. Straightness measurements are also carried out for bearing positions, in, for example, diesel engines. Straightness is often a basic requirement in order for a machine to function correctly and/or produce fault-free parts.

Flatness

A basic prerequisite for machine installation is that the base is flat. It is also a requirement for machine tables, so that manufactured parts then maintain tolerances. Flanges on tower segments for wind turbines are also checked for flatness, but here the requirement can be linked to a desired inclination of the plane (taper).

Squareness

The checking of squareness is carried out in a large number of applications, such as machine tools, co-ordinate measurement machines and mechanical constructions.

Parallelism

Examples include measurement of mutual parallelism between rolls and other surfaces in papermaking machines, printing presses, rolling mills, etc. Other examples are overhead tracks, rails and press machine tables.

Dynamic measurement

Dynamic measurement is a test to make sure your equipment remains free from stresses such as thermal expansion and pipe strain that can cause nozzle load.
