Measurement and alignment of sawmill machinery
XT980 Sawmill
Developed for sawmills that want stable processes, fewer interruptions and a higher, more predictable yield. With correctly set up machines, you maintain high production rates and deliver uniform end products hour after hour.
- Measures straightness, flatness and squareness
- Works on both band and circular saws
- Enables real-time adjustment
Real-time alignment with full control
The XT980 system makes it easy to measure and adjust reducers, counterholds and both band and circular saw blades. The laser transmitter can be used as a rotated point, creating a virtual plane to measure against. This replaces the traditional cord or wire and lets you move freely in the machine while following adjustments in real time.
With XT980 you can measure straightness, flatness and squareness in relation to both vertical and horizontal planes. It is also ideal for verifying flatness and ensuring that machine foundations stay stable and level.
The system is easy for production and maintenance personnel to use, and a measurement report is automatically generated after each completed alignment job.
Key strengths of XT980 Sawmill
Rugged design
Designed for harsh industrial environments (IP66 and 67).
Automatic documentation
A report is automatically generated in PDF and Excel format.
Multi-platform compatibility
Works with the industrial-grade Easy-Laser display unit or most iOS/Android devices.
Features
The programs below are the most commonly used with this system.
The Values program can be used for most geometrical measurements, with suitable units and brackets. Perfect for the complete machine installation phase. The Values interface can show up to four units at the same time; both measuring units and digital levels, for example. Automatic recording possible (set the interval and duration). You can make individual notes for each measurement point.

How to align sawmill machinery
In this video, we explain how you can use laser alignment equipment to align your sawmill machinery – both band saws and circular saws. With laser alignment, you will increase yield and improve product quality.
We usually say that a 1 mm feed error in an otherwise standard sawmill can reduce yield by 1%. And 1% less yield means roughly $100,000 USD annually.
