Alignment gives maximum availability

The amount of applications and machine types within the process industry is enormous. The most common, however, is the alignment of rotating machines such as pumps, motors, compressors, blowers, separators, centrifuges, agitators, etc. Easy-Laser offers solutions for all levels of need and application types.

Alignment of rotating machines

For alignment of rotating machines, shaft alignment systems such as Easy-Laser® XT770 are used.

What sets Easy-Laser apart is that the systems cover more than shaft alignment. Functions such as straightness, flatness and twist measurement make it possible to verify the machine base and surrounding geometry as part of the same job.

In potentially explosive environments, the Easy-Laser® XT550 EX is used. More details are available on the page about explosive environments.

Many rotating machines use radial transmissions, such as belt drives. For these applications, Easy-Laser® XT190 is recommended. It is a digital belt alignment tool that makes it easy to align according to the belt manufacturer’s specified tolerances.

Shaft alignment for all machine setups

Machines may be installed horizontally, vertically or flange mounted, arranged in a machine train, or connected with a cardan coupling. Easy-Laser provides dedicated alignment programs for all these machine types, ensuring accurate results regardless of configuration.

The systems also include practical program features and special brackets that simplify setup, measurement and adjustment.

Vibration checks

Easy-Laser® XT280 is an easy-to-use vibration analysis instrument for quick checks of vibration level, imbalance and misalignment in pumps, motors and bearings.

Flatness of bases – a basic requirement

A machine must be installed on a flat surface to work as intended. That is why Easy-Laser shaft alignment systems XT550, XT660 and XT770 include software for base twist measurement, using the standard measuring units.

XT770 also includes a “basic flatness” program that uses a separate sweep laser transmitter. This makes it possible to verify that the base is flat and level, and that footplates are level, flat and parallel, in line with applicable ISO standards. Flatness can also be checked using the XT290 digital precision level.

”Reliable machinery installation” is a term that includes everything that you should take into account to get the best out of a machine or plant, not least checking flatness. Read more about Reliable machinery installation on our blog.

Overcome problems of soft foot and dynamic forces

Soft foot describes conditions where machine feet are not fully in contact with the base. Causes may include a warped base, footplates that are not plane-parallel, incorrect shimming or angled machine feet. Easy-Laser software makes it possible to check the entire machine for soft foot, at both motor and pump. Learn more about soft foot.

Dynamic forces can occur, for example, in pipe systems when pumping fluids. These forces can move the machine in an unwanted direction and affect alignment. The EasyTrend program allows measurement values to be recorded over time, from start-up to operating conditions, making it possible to identify whether such problems are present.
